Tips to maintain your oversized printed t-shirt.

Updated: Jun 25

Let’s be real — you didn’t buy that oversized printed t-shirt just to watch it fade after two washes. Whether it's your favorite oversized fit, a design you handpicked yourself, or a tee repping your favorite vibe, keeping it fresh matters.

Don’t worry — keeping your tee looking crisp isn’t rocket science. You just need to show it a little love. Here’s how to do it right:

  • Turn It Inside Out Before you even toss it in the wash, flip your tee inside out. This simple step helps protect the print from the rough friction of the washing machine. It’s one of the easiest (and most overlooked) ways to preserve your design.

  • Cold Water Is Your Best Friend: Hot water might seem like it gets clothes “cleaner,” but it’s actually a print killer. Stick to cold water — it’s gentler on fabric and way more forgiving on your graphics.

  • Skip the Heavy-Duty Cycle: Graphic tees don’t need a spin cycle like they just ran a marathon. Choose a gentle or delicate cycle to avoid wearing out the fabric or cracking the design. Your tee will thank you.

  • Use Mild Detergent: Harsh detergents can break down both the fabric and the ink over time. Look for a mild detergent (bonus points if it’s color-safe). Avoid bleach at all costs — unless tie-dye disaster is your goal.

  • Air Dry Whenever Possible: We get it — dryers are convenient. But that heat? Not great for your prints. If you can, hang your tee up to air dry. If you must use the dryer, go for low heat. And yep, still inside out.

  • Ironing? Be Careful: Never iron directly on the print. If you really need to smooth things out, place a cloth over the design or iron it inside out on low heat. Better yet, steam it!

  • Bonus Tip: Wash Less, Wear More: Unless your tee’s seen a workout or a ketchup incident, it might not need a wash after every wear. The less often you wash it, the longer that artwork lasts.

Final Thoughts

Your graphic tee is more than just fabric — it’s a statement. Whether it’s your go-to oversized tee or a custom piece you helped design, taking a few extra steps in how you wash it can make all the difference.

Take care of your tee, and it’ll stay sharp, bold, and wearable for way longer. And hey, when you’re ready for a new one… you know where to find us
